| Comments: | I have studied Judo and Karate formally, and Taijiquan informally prior to starting formal Taiji study with Gao Sifu in October of 2007. I am impressed with him as an instructor as well as a person, and thoroughly enjoy his classes. In fact, whenever I have to miss one, because of business commitments, I feel cheated. Sifu approaches Taiji from a Martial-Art-For-Health-and-Exercise perspective, rather than as solely a health discipline. Pursuing Taiji from a Martial Applications perspective encourages the correct execution of the movements in the form, which makes them more demanding, and increases the health and exercise benefits. For example, I had torn each of my patella tendons off my kneecaps a few years ago (at different times, fortunately), in consequence of which my kneecaps are in slightly different locations than they originally were.
